- Agilent Separation Times,
Volume 15 #2, 2002 (2.3 MB)
Abstract: In this 16-page GC columns and supplies newsletter,
Agilent examines how long a GC column should last. The feature articles
explains the conditions that affect column longevity and compares
column lifetimes-as well as column bleed-using Agilent columns and
columns from two other manufacturers. A regular article "Ask
Technical Support" isolates the four main culprits that shorten
column life. Another major component of column longevity is sample
cleanliness. The magazine's center spread explains how to improve
sample cleanup with solid phase extraction (SPE) vacuum processing.
Another influence on column life is septa quality. Chromatograms
comparing Agilent septa with septa from three other manufacturers
reveal the significant difference that septa quality can have on
column lifespan and bleed. In another article, separate trace analyses
of chromatographically active compounds-a rigorous test of column
quality-reveal the importance of column quality on inertness and
column bleed. This study compares the Agilent HP-5 column with equivalent
columns from two other manufacturers.
- Agilent Separation Times,
Volume 15 #1, 2002 (2.0 MB)
Abstract: This issue features detector supplies and replacement
parts with a special emphasis on maintenance of the FID. Also included
is an application article on decreasing run times in Race Horse
Drug Testing Using DB-5ms and GC/MS. The regular "Ask Technical
Support" reviews a real-life customer problem, which deals
with disappearing peaks. Other articles include: Considerations
when Analyzing Dirty Samples, Replacement GC Columns May Not Be
Equivalent, Why take an Agilent E-seminar and 3 Reasons
Why You Need Agilent's Software Backup Solution.
