Abstract:
The multidimensional on-line K2Q12 HPLC+GC-MS system, based on the patented TOTAD interface, marries in synergy the separation and fractionation potential of HPLC to the separation, selective detection and quantification capabilities of HRGC. This interface allows direct on-line coupling of HPLC to GC-MS resulting in simplified sample preparation, minimization of solvents, lower detection limits, total automatization and a substantial reduction of unit analysis cost. Nowadays, the system has become a universal quali/quantitative system for analysis of compounds up to MW 1000 through the use of on-line derivatization in the interface and possible coupling to Quantitator system, which uses post column carbon-isotope dilution in combination with GC–combustion–MS for quantitation of compounds without the need for specific standards.

Your Speaker:
Doctor Josep M. Gibert is the KONIK Group founder and current President and CEO. He has life long experience in GC, HPLC and MS, since his early work with professors Joan Juli Bonet and Miguel Gassiot at the Sarrià Chemical Institute of the Ramon Llull University to his Ph.D. at the University of Houston under the advice of Professors Joan Oró and Albert Zlatkis. Dr Gibert has done pioneering work in GC-MS determination and trace analysis of a wide number of compounds in many valuable sample matrixes such as Lunar samples.
Upon his return from the US in 1973 Josep M. Gibert was Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and at the Institute of Fundamental Biology (IBF) currently IBB until 1977 when started the KONIK Group to contribute to the continuous innovation, development and diffusion of these powerful analytical techniques.
